An email reading “Notice of Eligibility”, description displaying “This notice informs you that due to action by the Governor, you are eligible for a one-time return-to-work bonus of $1,200 IF:”. What feels like a cruel joke directed towards my family is nothing more than an automatically generated email. I know this. However, the irony of their email arriving on the same day June’s rent payment forces our family finances below $1k is almost laughable, if it weren’t for the true desperation of the situation. With the hypocrisy of the State on full display, I’ll seize the opportunity to highlight the river of nonsense flowing from our Capital’s government complex. Falling for Montana State’s marketing, offering money to anyone who signs up, is exactly what got my family into our dire situation. The State rubbing it in with marketing campaigns for programs we are ineligible for, programs with requirements the State would use to revoke our eligibility before payment, all while we pray for real action from the Governor, is just cruel and unusual punishment directed towards an American family undeserving of such unjust treatment.

The Department of L&I haphazardly sent me an email of eligibility, in between the PUA Team actively denying my weekly claims requesting pandemic assistance. With the heartless PUA Team completely unbothered by denying an unemployed family of three access to all federal and state…
